Picture Perfect

This post is dedicated to one of the most important people in my life "my mom", a.k.a PJ or Nana Pam. My mom lives in Choctaw, OK with my older sister Kay Lynn & her family. I miss my mom dearly even though I talk to her every day.

I have several old photos of my mom and wasn't sure how or where to display them. I decided on 2 photos that were already framed, but the frames needed a serious makeover. I removed the pictures from the glass and found a hidden treasure behind one of the photos. A picture of my mom and my sister taken in 1968. The photo was damaged and had obvious signs of age, but I decided to frame it any way.

Alex is amazing at photo shop and convinced me he could brighten up the photo and hide the torn corners. I was skeptical at first but he assured me he could work his magic, and he did. The updated photo is stunning. I feel like this picture really captures my mom's beauty and how happy she was to be a new mom.

Now that I had a beautiful photo I needed an awesome frame to showcase it. I just happened to stop at a random estate sale and found an antique gold frame for $1.00. I'm not a huge fan of anything gold, but I figured it could be painted. The below shot is the only picture I took of the frame before painting it.

I've been obsessed with anything Turquoise lately and decided that would be a great color for the frame. I used a combination of  watered down white and turquoise acrylic paint. I wanted the paint to high light the ornate design of the frame and to not take anything away from the photo. I didn't cover the entire frame with the paint and decided to leave some of the gold peeking through. I think this gave the frame an aged patina look.

This frame is now hanging in my bedroom and I adore it. I look at everyday when I wake up and it gives me a sense of peace so I can face the day ahead.

I love you Mom.
